Earth's Interior
We are now studying the inside of the Earth in class. As you are finding out, it is not easy to figure out what the inside of the Earth looks like but scientists believe, after a lot of hard work, that they have figured it out!
So what???
How does knowing the structure of the inside of the Earth help us to understand things happening on the surface?
Make sure to write at least 6 sentences in your explanation about why it is important. This is due by the time you come to class on Thursday. Happy Blogging!

It helps us by knowing what we come from. Also what is around us. And the types of rocks, volcanoes, and earthquake. How do our rocks form. Then how would an earthquake happen, also why does it happen. That is what will help us understand inside of the earth and what happens on the surface.
ReplyDeleteIts Important to know the Earths interior for many reasons. First reason is for, when we look for oil underground. This helps us understand where it would be located. Also it shows us how far we should dig for things we nee underground. If we dug to deep we might harm the world more then we have. Knowing how far to dig, where to dig and where items under the ground is, is why its important to know the earths interior. Thank You Gwen. B
ReplyDeleteI think you can tell what the center of the earth looks like from the surface and the other lairs of the earth. The way we can do this is by the volcanic activity and how hot and cool the area is. Lets say the area is a volcanic area then that would mean that the place is constantly building and hot under ground. Lets say it the area was really cold. If it was then The place underground would be just plain out rock. If the area is hot and there is no volcanic activity you can tell that the under ground is a metamorphic rock forming possibly. That is my theory about how you can find out what is underground below our feet from the surface(probably wrong).

I didn’t know we could see under the surface of the earth. Although since we can, knowing what happens inside of the earth helps understand what happens on the outside the crust easier. We can understand that if there is a reaction inside of the earth than there is also going to a reaction on the outside. For example if magma starts overloading under the crust then there will be an eruption and the level of magma will go down. Being able to see under the crust will probably also make it possible for the human race to survive longer. We can also see into outer space and this will possibly help us survive the 2 possible theories for the dinosaurs extinction. I believe that the earth’s inhabitants are all safer now that we know how to look under the skin of the earth and understand the earth’s deepest secrets.
ReplyDeleteUnderstanding the earth's core helps us understand the surface. This helps us understand because it keeps the earth up in gravity rules. It also helps the earth by making a shield around earth that protects us from radioactive space waste. Understanding the core helps by knowing why temp. are changing. Understanding helps think of possible ways to think of getting there, therefor, increasing brain function. Understanding helps us understand why there are natural disasters. These are why the it's important to understand the core.
ReplyDeleteP.S there are two cores
It helps us to understand the surface by knowing the effect and causes of under the surface in the earths crust. It also helps us to understand the reasons why the are hurricanes and other natural disasters are happening. It helps to identify rocks by knowing the type of ground where and how it came to from helps to find out how the earths ground works to make rocks. It helps to figure out the age of the rocks design and creation. Another thing it helps with is the mantle can move the continents and either create a volcano or a mountain.

ReplyDeleteI think that the core of the earth has at least 2 cores to it one harder than the other because if one is hotter than the other than one would have to be harder than the other one. I think this because our earth is very large and has a lot of layers and so there has to be a reactor to create heat and the one core would be like the one that creates the most heat. The core would have been smaller millions of years ago because of evolution of the earth it has gotten bigger. It helps us to know what the inside of the earth is doing because it can help us know when there might be a volcanic eruption or other natural disasters. By knowing the structure of the earth because it can give us knowledge of what the earth will be like in the years to come. I also think by knowing the earth's structure it can help to predict future events such as a super volcano or a big earthquake.by Brandon bush
Knowing many things is important. But, some things can lead to big discoveries. It is helpful for scientists to know what's inside the Earth because it could help them know more about natural disasters and other hard to understand concepts of the earth. For example, by digging into the earth, it is possible to discover more information about how Earth shifts and earthquakes and hurricanes occur. Also, in general, scientists can just learn more about the earth. They discovering more and more about Earth's layers and it's core and it would be great if we could keep learning more to understand our surface better.
ReplyDeleteWhen volcanic eruptions occur or mountains are formed, we know that this is formed by the layers of Earth, like the crust, core or mantle. For example, mountains are formed when tectonic plates collide and the Earth’s crust, what we live on, moves and adjusts to the collision that had occurred. Volcano’s eruptions are also caused by moving plates inside the Earth’s crust or layers. With these changes we can see where or what is going on under the Earth’s crust. We can, for example, tell where the magma rises under the crust of Earth. We can prepare for what lies ahead if in case a volcano where to erupt or a mountain is going to be formed all by tectonic plates underneath the Earth. This is why I think understanding the inside of the Earth will help us to understand how things happen on Earth’s crust.
ReplyDeleteI think that knowing the stucture of the inside of Earth helps us understand the outside of Earth because we can undertand why things happen. For example we can understand why we have earthquakes. Another example is we can understand why water started to decrease. Also it takes away our curiosity because wouldn't we want to know how our world looks inside. The last reason is because we can understand global warming better. Those are some reasons why it matters to know what the outside of Earth looks like to understand why things happen above Earth. Kimberly F. per;3
ReplyDeleteWith knowing the structure inside there are a lot of things that can help us understand whats happening on the surface. It helps us because you can see how big it is. You can also see how big an earthquake is. It can also help us learn about volcanoes, sea level rise and things like that. By knowing the structure you can know how much the earth weights by each layer. It's very important to know the structure of the inside of the Earth.
ReplyDelete-Aryell E.
Knowing the structure of the inside of the Earth helps us to understand things happening on the surface... Knowing the structure helps us because we can tell how old earth is. It can tell us what earth is made of. For example, the core is made of nickel and iron. It can also tell us how earth was formed. Which was rocks and dirt/dust bundled together. It is important to know about the planet we live on. Jaclynn Villarreal
ReplyDelete=The inside of the earth, it hot it deadly it's deep and still scientist craving to find out what is inside, and they have, but, why do they care so much? Maybe it's because scientist can be one step closer to finding out global warming. We all know that heat rises and if the center if the earth is so hot that could be one of the main causes for global warming. Or it could be because they want to know where the earth came from., If the earth was a burning inferno of magma and water vapor then that could be pretty good evidence that that is true. That is why I think that scientes want to know what is in the center of the earth, to find out where we came from and if that could be a factor in global warming. Sean. S Per: 3
ReplyDeleteThere are several things that we can learn from understanding the center of the Earth. Some of which might not matter, but there are several catastrophic events, that we can understand, thanks to the scientists that have figured out what the inside of the Earth looks like. An example of one of these events is the earthquake in Haiti that happened a couple years ago. The earthquake was created by the shifting of tectonic plates, which we were moved around because of the center of the Earth. We we are able to better understand this because we had the basic Idea of the Earth's insides. Another event that happens on the Earth because of the Mantle, and outer and inner core, is Volcanic Eruptions. Presently, humans are able to better understand why these volcano's explode better than the people that lived back in Pompeii. Obviously understanding the inside of the Earth allows us to better understand the catastrophic events that hit us all too often.

Knowing what the structure of the inside of our earth is can be very important. One of the reasons that you would want to know is for earthquakes. If you did not know where all of the borders of the tectonic plates where you could end up having many issues with moving and shaking ground. If you knew the inside of your earth you might know to move. Also, you might want to know the inside structure of the earth to know where an inactive volcano is. Volcanoes can look like mountains if you do not know the inside structure of the earth. You would not understand the signals of it becoming active. Understanding the inside of earth might also help us understand how shock waves travel through underground and make tsunamis. We could understand things better like when to expect it. There are many reasons why knowing the inside structure of earth helps us understand things on the surface. Elise M
ReplyDeleteDear Mr. Andrews,
ReplyDeleteKnowing the structure of the inside of the Earth can help us to understand things happening on the surface. For example if there is a constant dramatic drop in temperature around the world, we would know that the mantel or core has somehow cool off quickly. As time goes on the temperature would get colder because the mantel gives off heat like when skin disposes of hot air or liquids in the body. Knowing the interior structure of the Earth can provide weather forecasts because the Earth fields can probably predict weather and save money from sending a few hundred rockets into space to the space station. Also, knowing the Earth's interior structure we can understand how the Earth form and curiosities of the interior of the Earth. Overall knowing the interior structure of the Earth can help us understand things happening on the surface.
From,
Randy C.
Knowing the structure of the inside of Earth helps us to understand so many things. Such as the way mountains are made, why seas have big waves, why earthquakes occur. Tectonic plates push up from deep into the crust and start to push out. This can make waves in the oceans, or just earthquakes happen. In addition, knowing the structure of the mantle, core and crust, can give us insight into when a tsunami will strike, or a volcano will erupt, or an earthquake will boom! This is all helpful information, and scientist use this information to go deep into what the surface of earth was like, before humans, before the dinosaurs, before anything!

What i learned that rocks will always be rocks. The reason that i say that, is that sedimentary rocks are types of rock are formed by deposition. What i learned is that rocks are mixed with other types of rocks. Any types of rock you think of is mixed with other type of rock. Sediments, soil, and rocks are added to a land form or land mass.Igneous rock goes with his buddy named Metamorphic rock then goes, with sediments.
ReplyDeleteThe structure of the earth can help us understand the surface the plates can slam into each other then a mountain forms.Lava can get in the mountain then it is a vacano. The plates can also destroy mountains. Then when magma is out from under ground it is lava.Under the earth's surface can help us a lot.About lava and mountains and plates can all help us

Understanding the inside of the earth helps us understand how natural disasters happen. For example a volcano and earthquakes. It helps us understand how lands move over the years. For example the layers on the earth help us understand the layers on the outside of the earth. The plates on the earth are constantly are moving land.

ReplyDeleteI think that Understanding the inside of the earth helps us understand many things. We can understand where a lot of activity on the surface is and what we can do. When it is hot under the ground we can tell what is going to happen and how to take care of it. We can see what is happening on the surface and try to stop it. this can help us extremely. knowing What is going too happen and knowing what is inside our earth is amazing. FInding out how to dig deeper and if we find more we will get even close in the mystery of earth.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteThe inside of the earth help us know what is on the inside because we will be able to find when a natural disaster will happen such as an earthquake. We will know if anything will change in the near future. The inside of the earth can also help us in different science experiments. We can see if anything will happen that can harm people. We can also learn different things from the inside structure of the earth. So we can learn so much from the inside structure of the earth.
Gabe Ortega
ReplyDeleteKnowing the structure of the inside of the earth helps us understand the mysteries of the plant we call home. Earthquakes are a big thing that the structure of the earth tells us. Not only how big is the earthquake is or where is it located, it helps us know what layer it is and how deep the layer is. Also that involves the core of the earth. This involves platelets and a bunch more that is happening under our feet. So there you have it knowing the inside the earth helps us a lot, and I mean A LOT.
Abby L 7
When a earthquake happens it is caused by plates rubbing against each other. When we know about the inside of the Earth then we can better predict when these earthquakes will happen. If we can look at the mantle and see what kind of things are happing down there, we can predict when a earthquake will happen and hoe big. Also when we can see inside the Earth we can predict when a volcano might erupt. When looking in the Earth we can look back into Earths past and what it went through to get there. All these reasons are why it is important to know what is happening in our Earth.
ReplyDelete-Wesley J
After learning more about the Earth and what on the inside scientists can learn more and more about how it is also affecting the surface. To start out, the mantle is made out of lava, this lava is always putting pressure and heart onto the crust which causes earthquakes. Scientists are certain that this is one of the reasons for earthquakes. Next, the mantle has convectional currents that move our plates and this shifts the earths surface. These are all important because without this knowledge we would have a clue whats going on or when earthquakes are going to hit. As you can see the structure on the inside of the earth helps us to understand things happening on the surface.

Knowing the structure of the inside of the earth helps us understand the things that are happening on the earth's surface by seeing the different rock formations. Formations like igneous rock, sedimentary rock, and metamorphic rock. From the mantle, volcanoes erupt, where magma flows out. From the magma, the cooling of the magma can be slow or even fast, but all equals out to igneous rock. Also, when volcanoes erupt, rocks from underneath the crust end up on the on top of the crust. Some things from underneath, are iron, nickel, minerals such as granite and sandstone. Iron and nickel are what makes the inner and outer core. Emma K per. 3
ReplyDeleteKnowing about the inside of the earth can help us understand how the earth works.Knowing about the inside of the earth can help us understand what happens here on the surface. We can use our knowledge about the inside of the earth to understand how volcanoes are activated. Some day we could use our knowledge about the earths inner layers to help us predict when a volcano will erupt or a earthquake will happen. We know that the reason we have a magnetic field is because of one of the earths layers. We can use this to help us understand how earths magnetic field works. ReplyDeleteIt is very important to know what is under just the crust. It is important because the Core gives us a magnetic field. The magnetic field is what determines polar caps, climate and other factors. Knowing about the inside of earth we could be clueless about why we have gravity or why we have a magnetic field. Also, it is just really fascinating to learn. Lastly, without knowing about the inside of earth we would not know how earthquakes start or how plate tectonics maneuver. This is important because without knowing about the inside of earth many things would be random and clueless.

I think that knowing what is in the inside of the Earth is really important. I think that it is important because we want to know how to prevent natural disasters like earthquakes. Also we want to know how to deal with all the things down there, but if we don’t know what the Earth looks like we can’t do that. Also I think scientists would want to know what is underneath us to examine and find out more. Maybe one day with enough information we could build a replica of the Earth with replicas of us, who knows!! I think that it is important to be able to learn more about our Earth, what we call home. One day we could figure out new materials, or something rare or something valuable. I think it is very important to study the inside of the Earth.
Knowing the structure of Earth's interior helps us to understand what happens on Earth's surface because Earth's surface is directly related to its interior. For example, in the mantle, there's a current called convection currents that causes plates to move. When plates move, seismic action occurs, and it can sometimes cause earthquakes. Additionally, the lower part of the mantle is made of plastic-like melted rock. The melted rock causes volcanic action on Earth's surface. Also, since the inner and outer cores are made of iron and nickel, it allows Earth to have a magnetic field. This allows compasses to work and us humans can navigate our way. By knowing this, we can have a better understanding of why natural disasters happen and in some ways, we can prepare for them, all because of understanding the Earth's interior.

Yes, knowing the inside structure of the world really does help us in a few ways. One way is if we know the the structure of the inside of earth we can know why the earth is in its structure now. Seismic waves help us understand how our earth changed from Pangea to how it is now. Also, the inside of the earth help us to classify rocks. Different rocks come from different parts of the inside of earth and knowing the the structure of the inside o earth is helpful to know which part the rock came from. Thats ho the inside of the earths structure helps us.

This topic is important for a few reasons. My first reason is because knowing what is on the inside of the planet might make predicting when a volcano or earthquake might go off. Some debris can be in the lava giving us more clues about inside of our planet. Another reason this matters is because if the inside getting hotter, the outside might become hotter too. In other words, I am saying that knowing what is going on down there might predict weather. Also, knowing that Global Warming is causing the Earth to get warmer, that might be the same case for the innards of the Earth.
ReplyDeleteKnowing the structure of the inside of the earth helps us understand what’s happening because it kind of lets us figure out how it looks. It helps us learn more about what makes rocks or the things inside rocks. For example, we can learn the temperatures of the earth’s inner core. Plus it can help scientists figure out how to find the inside structure of other planets. Also knowing the inside of the earth can help us learn more about the layers inside the earth. It would be really cool to figure out the inside of the earth.
ReplyDeleteDany B.
The earth is very fascinating, inside and out. Even though we have never been into the Mantle or core of the Earth, we can still figure out what happens inside. Knowing the structure of the Earth can help us understand what's happening on the surface. It can help is because say an earthquake happens. Knowing that the crust has plates underneath, we can infer that the earthquake appears when those plates break, or crack. It also helps us by telling us when a tsunami is about to happen or has happened. Seismic waves are what tell us this. These are some reasons why knowing the structure of the inside of the Earth helps us to understand things that happening on the surface.

It is very important to know what is inside the Earth or under it. This helps us any many ways. To begin, we can figure out if a earthquake is going to hit so that people could have time to do something. This is better than not knowing what is going to happen and when. Earthquakes happen in the thin first layer, the crust.Next, is if a volcano is going to be active we need to be able to know when and where so we can save those people. This activity happens in the mantle. Last, is we can learn and get smarter from this knowledge. Learning new material is always helpful and sometimes even fun. This is why learning about the Earth under ground is just as important as anything else. - Ellie D.
ReplyDeleteKnowing what's beneath the earths surface or crust is curtail. This is so important because It could help us know about the past and the future. It could help us know more about how the earth formed and how old the earth is exactly. Under the earth might be the secrets to tell us when volcanos and earthquakes might happen. These could be important because it could save many lives and unexpected disasters. Either way it could help to know about the past or the future.W.P.
ReplyDeleteThe structure of Earth’s inside is very important to us. It helps us to understand our world better. For example, the liquid outer core spins around the inner core. This gives Earth it’s magnetic field. Without this magnetic field, we would not be able to use compasses. In addition, the gravitational pull of the inner core keeps the earth round. It also keeps us from floating off into space. Without the mantle, the outer core, inner core, and the crust, it would be difficult to live on Earth.

ReplyDeleteWe know a lot about the inside of the Earth, and it can help to understand what is happening on the surface. First off, if we know how the mantle is moving, it will help us with knowing where the continents will be moving. Also, the mantle is where earthquakes are, and if we know how it is shifting we may be able to predict some of the activity. By knowing the of the structure of the Earth, we can infer how the it was made. If we have the technology to go onto other planets and find out what their interior looks like, we can compare it to Earth’s and find some clues on how it could be formed. In conclusion, by knowing about the inner workings of the Earth we can find out many things about our planet and others.
Caroline B.
There many reasons for learning and knowing about the Earth’s layers. By knowing about the layers, we can begin to learn patterns about earthquakes, how continents move and tectonic plates, and gravity and magnetic fields. When we learn about the Earth’s core, we can find out different information about magnetic fields and gravity. This is important because gravity is what keeps us on this planet and it is something that makes Earth different from other planets. The lithosphere is important to know about because it is separated into tectonic plates which can cause earthquakes and slowly make mountain ranges (when moved). This means that the lithosphere was responsible for building up many different mountain ranges. Without our knowledge of layers, we would have never known this. The asthenosphere is mostly molten rock which helps us know why the tectonic plates move. Overall, the layers of Earth are giving and will give lots of information about what happens on the surface.

ReplyDeleteKnowing the structure of the inside of the Earth helps us understand things happening on the surface is important by knowing how natural disasters occur like volcanoes and earthquakes. It helps us know the structure of how all things on Earth are held together. All of the kinds of rocks make up the universe. The igneous rock that put most of the Earth together teamed up with the other types of rock and created this sphere called, Earth. On the surface of the Earth is where we all stand. The crust, mantle, outer and inner layers is what makes up the Earth, and it keeps us here standing. We're understanding more and more how the structure of the inside of the Earth helps us to understand things happening on the surface.
Knowing the structure of inside the earth can help us in understand the surface of the earth many ways. If we know the structure of the crust, and how the structure is, that can tell us how hard it is and thin or thick it is. For Example, the crust is completely solid, that can tell us that the crust helps us not sink into the ground. It helps actually stay on the surface. By knowing another layer of the earth, the Mantle, can also help us understand our surface. The mantle mainly controls the planet's movement but it also blocks the heat from reaching us from the hot core. That tells us how thick the mantle must be by blocking the earth's heat. The Mantle helps us understand the surface because if we didn’t have the mantle, the ground would melt and we would burn. Lastly, the core. The core can keep all of the other layers warm and us warm to. The mantle is there because it blocks some of the heat but not all of it. The core helps us understand the surface because if we didn't have it, our ground would probably freeze and we would all die to. Knowing the inside of the earths structure can help us know the surface of earth many ways.
ReplyDeleteKnowing the structure of the inside of the Earth can help us understand things happening on the surface in many ways. Knowing that the core is made of iron and nickel explains a lot. It explains why and how we have a magnetic field and how we are able to use compasses. Knowing that the Earth’s interior is so hot tell us why there is magma. There is magma because the heat of the interior warms the rock and melts it, turning it into magma. Knowing these things can really help us understand and learn about the things going on around us.
ReplyDelete-Kelly B.
It helps us understand earthquakes and how they are created and helps us predict when possible earthquakes might happen. Understanding the inside of the Earth helps us predict weather. Knowing things about the inner core helps us understand the magnetite field which is liquid, iron and nickel.

The Earth is an amazing planet filled with extraordinary things. What we’re learning in class about the Earth’s layers, is extremely important. It is very important to know how the Earth functions in order to find the history and things that can happen overtime to the Earth. To add, knowing about the Earth allows scientists to know when natural disasters might occur. For example, the layers of Earth are able to depict certain waves to tell if an earthquake is going to happen. Volcanoes are capable of erupting, and without the knowledge about the layers, we wouldn't be able to tell when the volcano would erupt and how it will be released. The layers, cores, and mantles are definitely important to know about for any situation. I believe learning about the structure of Earth is important for anyone to know.
ReplyDelete-Janine R.
Scientists have discovered what is in the earth, and that helps to know what happens on earth. One thing is that they can know when an earth quake will happen and what the degree is. That is important for safety and helps to see when another will happen. Another reason that its important because it helps see the earths history and how it was created. Also thats important because we can know our earliest ancestor for that. That is why it was important that scientists discovered whats inside the earth.
ReplyDeleteKnowing about the inside of the Earth can tell us a lot of information. For example, when a volcano erupts, the lava comes from way under it. So knowing where the lava is coming from can help us predict when it will erupt. Obviously the lava comes on to the surface so that's one way that knowing the inside of the Earth could help us know what will happen on the surface. The inside of the Earth tells us many things like when a volcano might erupt. When you know about the inside, you'll know many things that will happen on the surface.

It is very important to know how the inside of the Earth is shaped. It also helps us find out what is going on on the Crust. It helps us first, because we can know more about what is under our feet. Also, we can find out more about Earthquakes and where rocks/lava comes from. It is also important so we can go further in study and we can know how hot it gets under the crust. This is why it is important.
ReplyDeleteKnowing what's beneath the earths crust is very important. It's important because it can tell us a lot about our history and how our planet was made. Going through the different layers of earth can tell us a lot about earths past like earth used to be very hot and made of magma which now is underneath the crust and called the mantel. It also tells us that whitle earth was slowly cooling down the heavier materials like nickel and iron sunk down to the middle of earth creating two cores, an inner and an outer core. The inner core is made up of solid nickel and iron but the outer core is made up of liquid nickel iron. The crust can also tell us that the earth was in the processes of cooling when there was a big meteor shower hit earth. These meteors carried water leaving the water on the cooled surface. This is one thing that the layers of earth can tell us.
Ava K.
While studying the earth, I have learned a lot. At first I thought that we studied the inside of the earth just because of curiosity. Although this is partially correct, this is not completely true. We also study the earth so we can tell if there is going to be an earthquake coming. Knowing this can help save some people’s lives. Another thing we can know is if any volcanoes are active. If they are we can tell by looking down into the earth. Although we can only go five miles into the ground, we already know so much and will learn more in the future.

Knowing the structure of the inside of the earth helps us understand why magma comes out of volcanos, why we have earthquakes, and how compasses work. Knowing these things is very important. It is important because if we know how the inside of the earth works, then we know how earthquakes work and we can prepare for them better. And knowing how a compass works can help us use them when we need to. If you don't know that compasses work because of the magnetic layer that the inside of the earth causes, it won't even be helpful. And knowing that magma comes out of the inside of the earth will be helpful just in common knowledge. -Clara W.
ReplyDeleteIt helps us by understanding how the earth evolves and how the mantle and other parts move to the things that happen on earth. But we figured out that we can tell what is happening on the core when what happens on the crust. Like shock waves or other natural disasters. But I do believe that the shock waves that come from the surface of the earth can be measured or inferred of what happens deep under. There is no way of us knowing until we go down there and put some machine that can feel the vibrations on the surface of the Earth and make a hypothesis about what happened. Mike A Period 7
ReplyDeleteKnowing what is inside the Earth helps us know what is under us. Since we can't see down there, we have very limited knowledge of it. We can study seismic graphs to find out what parts of the Earth are where. It gives us knowledge of how we have a magnetic field. We can tell how far down stuff is. It may even help us predict when future earthquakes might happen.
ReplyDeleteHow it helps knowing the structure of the inside of the earth is knowing how the weather is a role. It also plays a role in how the earth is formed and how long it was in a sertian way and why. I also think that it helps the scientist figure out how far is it till the core and if the earth is really hallow or not. I say this because then wwe can tell is it was a mith or not.
ReplyDeleteKnowing the structure of the inside of the Earth helps us understand why things happen on the surface of the Earth in a few ways. First of all, it helps us generate the 'rate' of an earthquake. When anything under the crust (tectonic plates) shifts, it causes an earthquake. Knowing how bad one can be can help people in that area know what to do. Second, knowing about your planet in all is helpful. Just the history and knowing what is in the center informs us on how much it differs from the surface. Overall, being aware of the differences is very important. Place the pieces together and you can see how the interior is different to the surface.

Knowing the inside of the earth helps us in many ways. First of all knowing the crust can help us to detect and study earthquakes, to inform us when one will strike. Next knowing the mantle can help us detect size mic waves which are caused by earthquakes and man made explosions. Knowing the inner and outer core can help us by Knowing what is in the center of our Earth and detect when that will cool off causing the world to end. Also Knowing about what is inside earth gives us more knowledge of what we live on and is very interesting.

ReplyDeleteI think that us knowing how the layers look like could help us predict the weather like earthquakes and other things. In class Mr. Andrews said that when the layers move or something like that and that cause earthquakes. All of the layers moving caused the earthquake in Japan the continents moved that is how strong it is. So like I was saying by knowing how the layers look we can know so many things. Like the weather, global warming, ects. Therefore when we know how the Earth’s layers look like we can know so many things.
-Citlalli V
By knowing the structure of the Earth we can understand it a lot better. We know why the continents move, and why the planet has changed. We also know why things like earthquakes occur. Additionally, we can feel safe from meteors because we know that a magnetic field surrounds the earth. Most importantly we know more about how the earth was formed. Studying the inside of the Earth has great benefits.

Knowing about the structure of the Earth can help us understand what it does on the surface. For example knowing what goes on in the asthenosphere we understand some earthquakes happen. Also with the knowledge of how if in the lithosphere when the plates brake there is a good chance a volcanic eruption. Another example is when the core heats up, and melts some of the rock it can turn into magma. Knowing how the structure of the Earth can help us understand whet goes on up on the surface.

I think that knowing what inside the earth helps us figure out a lot of things outside the earth. For example earthquakes. Earthquakes happen all the time and it is important to figure out how the are cause. By knowing whats inside the earth the can figure out what causes many things to happen on earth like earthquakes. ReplyDeleteThe surface could tell us a lot about the past, and weather patterns. This could tell us were the sea has been and could help us study the tectonic plates. We can use the weathering patterns on the surface to identify hurricanes and bad weather from happening. The earths core effects the atmosphere. Those are the reasons that the earths layers are so important. Sam A. period 2
ReplyDeleteKnowing about the structure of the Earth helps us understand what goes on on the surface in many ways. The first way is geology. By knowing how the rocks are formed on the inside of the Earth helps us study them today. Archeology is also something we can understand. This is because fossils come from the layers underneath us and knowing the layers helps us find and study the fossils. Over the last millions of years, the Earth’s surface has shifted and changed. For example, about 65 million years ago, all of the continents were connected in one big landform called Pangea. Knowing about the layers of the Earth tells us why the continents shifted. Therefore, knowing about the structure of the Earth helps us understand what goes on on the surface in many ways.

As a student who is just learning this, some of the things that have to be answered about these are kind of hard to make out. Although this may be true i think that we as humans can learn a lot about what will be predicted to happen on our crust that we have today so that in the future it will in fact be easier to predict what will happen. For example we know things that have happened in time periods like the cave man times from looking at the particular rock layers of the earth to see exactly when they where alive and all of the different animals that where there at that time. So basically what I am trying to say is that we can in fact try and do things like find patterns that happened in the earth a long time ago to try and predict what will happen in our future. So in conclusion i think that this is what can help us in our modern society to try and figure out what will happen.

I think that it is important to know the structure of the inside of our Earth because then we can have further explainations on what is happening on the Earth's surface. The inside of the Earth deturmines what happens on the surface, so it is very important that we know about the inside of the Earth so that we can predict any upcoming problem. I think it is important that we know about how hot the inside of Earth is so that we don't have to question the warmth of the surface. That is one thing the Earth's inside can tell us, because of it's very very hot temperature inside. The Earth's inside can also tell us about the different rocks that we have up on the surface, by showing us different forms of rock deeper and deeper in the inside. Rocks can help us understand how old different land marks are, and can hold some fossils that can help us understand life that once walked on the Earth. So the inside of the Earth also ties together with the fossils and the animals that once walked this Earth, witch is some pretty important information people should have, to correctly understand the Earth and it's mysteries.
ReplyDeleteKnowing the structure of the inside of the Earth is important. It gives us a snapshot into what the earth might have looked like millions and even billions of years ago at the very formation of our planet. It can also lead us to information and answers to questions asked about the way that the earth was formed. Also knowing the structure of your home is just a must. You would not buy a house if you did not know its past or did not have a blue print of it. The earth is our home and we need to know about it, even the part that we can't observe with our eyes.
ReplyDeleteKnowing the structure of the inside of the Earth help us understand the things happening on the surface because everything usually starts under the surface so we know what started it. For example earthquakes start underground but it affects the surface. This way we know why some stuff that happens on the surface happen and how it all starts. Another reason is that it helps understand why some things change on the surface. For instance when volcano's explode they could be able to see why it started erupting and how. These are some reasons why knowing the structure of the inside of the Earth help us understand things that are happening on the surface.

ReplyDeleteKnowing what is inside the Earth can help us understand many things happening on the surface in lots of different ways. One thing that you might be able to understand earthquakes more by being able to see if something inside of earth is causing it. This would help because they could possibly find ways from preventing them or by getting warnings of them earlier before they happen. Another reason why this would help is that by being able to see inside Earth, we would be able to see where the magma for volcanos comes from. Magma probably comes from the core since it is so hot there but I think it would be interesting of figure out where it first came from. In all, knowing what is inside the Earth can help us understand many things happening on the surface in lots of different ways and these are just a few.

In the world of science we now know what the inside of the Earth looks like. Many people may be thinking why do we care what the inside of the Earth looks like, it's not like we live in the center of Earth. Well it is actually, it is important to know what the inside of our Earth looks like. It is important because knowing what's on the inside can help scientists better figure out what's on the outside. For example, we see lava in the core of our Earth. This can tell us that the volcanoes that form on the tops of the crust will release the magma inside and make new rocks. Also, the more we know about the inside the more we can figure out about the outside, maybe one day we will even be able to figure out when a volcano is going to erupt just based on what we know is happening under the Earth's surface otherwise known as the core. This is why knowing what's on the inside of the Earth's surface is just as equal as knowing what is on Earth's surface.

Knowing the structure of the inside of Earth can be very important. It can help us to know why and how volcanic eruptions occur. We can also learn about rock forms. When the Earth was formed, it was a pool of magma. Therefore, when that dried, the magma formed igneous rock. That rock changed to make metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. Today, those rocks are all over our society. Clearly, we can learn a lot from knowing about the inside of the Earth!

ReplyDeleteWith all of the new technology and equipment, finding out what is under the Earth's surface has become much easier; but why is this important? This is very important because it can help understand what is happening on Earth's surface. When understanding this it can help us predict future earthquakes and over disasters. In addition, it can tell us how it is going to change in the future. The mantle sends out current waves that move the tectonic plates under the earth. The core has the magnetic force that allows gravity to happen on Earth. But isn't human nature to wonder?

ReplyDeleteKnowing the structure of the inside of the Earth helps us understand the things happening on the crust like volcanoes and earthquakes. The seismic plates are what cause the earthquakes, which is something that occurs today. Also, the magma causes volcanoes to erupt. This helps us study the land on Earth, comparing what's happening inside the Earth with the layers. Scientists are learning how to compare from the inside and how it affects the outside. Mostly it helps us with scientific study.
Knowing the inside structure of the Earth helps us understand what’s happening on the surface in multiple ways. Scientists can trace the causes of earthquakes and volcanoes to the movement of tectonic plates (individual sections of the lithosphere). Mountains are also developed due to the lithosphere’s pieces bumping into each other. Additionally, the inner core of our planet, composed of solid iron and nickel, cause a sort of magnetic field to surround Earth. This protects our planet from charged particles (may be sent by the sun) floating around in space. Knowing these sorts of things help us understand the events occurring around us, even holding the possibility that a soon-to-come hypothesis may be based upon this knowledge too.

Knowing the inside of the Earth is helpful because we understand the activities of our world much better. For example, knowing the inside of the earth helps us protect from earthquakes. What I mean by this is that we know when they are going to happen and can warn many people. Another example, would be us knowing why we have magnetic fields. This helps us understand why the technology works. To bring the point up, Volcanoes are dangerous and knowing why they happen is information we get from what's inside the earth. We learn this by looking at where the volcanoes draw their power (Lava, Magma). Lastly, knowing the inside of the earth lets us know about how the mountains formed. The Earth tells us this by showing us the tectonic plates, the lithosphere and the asthenosphere. In all, this is how the structure of the earth and knowing how it works helps us understand things on the surface.
ReplyDeleteKnowing the structure of the inside of the Earth helps us to understand a lot of things that are going on at the surface. One way it helps us is, to help us know about volcanoes and lava. Knowing that magma, which comes out of volcanoes, comes from the mantle which is 25 miles down from the surface. Also knowing about the surface of the Earth helps us learn what goes on with tectonic plates and earthquakes. By knowing the inside of the Earth, you would know that the tectonic plates are in the lithosphere or very top of the mantle and the crust. The lithosphere floats and moves upon the asthenosphere shows us how the plates move. This is why knowing the inside of the Earth will help you understand what goes on at the surface.
ReplyDeleteThe second level give us heat.so that the inner core is the melted rock and is a is a big part of the earth give us heat.the crust gives us earthquake but also help us a lot .the crust tells us what we are standing on.Outer core I forgot what it does for us.
ReplyDeleteKnowing the structure of the Earth helps because in able to know what's going on on the surface we need to know how the world works. Such as, the outer core makes our magnetic force happen on Earth. Without this, compasses wouldn't work to help direct us in the place we want to go. Also, by looking into the crust of the Earth, we can determine the earthquakes and how much they would effect our planet. The mantle and crust help with the continents and their closesness to eachother. Getting into the inner core or farther down could help scientists figure out why the things here are the way they are. Looking at different parts of the Earth help us learn more about where we live, and would help with the development of our knowledge with the planet.

Knowing the structure of the inside of the earth will help us to understand things happening on the surface for a couple of reasons. It helps us know what causes the gravity that keeps everything thing on the surface. It also helps us know what makes the interior of the earth warm. Which is the core producing the heat. Knowing the structure inside of the earth will help us understand what causes the tectonic plates to move. It also helps us know what cause earthquakes or volcanic eruptions. It lets us know what caused the mountains to grow. So knowing the structure of the inside of the earth helps us understand things happening on the surface for the reasons above.

The structure of the inside of the earth effects things on the surface in many ways. For example the outer core is made of precious metals that create the earths magnetic field. This magnetic field is very important because without it, harmful rays could damage life on earth. Another thing that helps us learn about the surface is the the lithosphere. The composure of the lithosphere shapes the way the crust looks. Those are some of the ways the composure of the earths layers help us understand what happens on the surface.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteKnowing the structure would help us find out why a volcano erupted and why earthquakes happen when they do. One of the Earths layers is called the Mantle. The Mantle is the middle layer. When partial melting of rocks occur in the Mantle this causes a volcanic eruption. The crust is the outermost layer. Most earthquakes happen on the crust so when an earthquake occurs a seismologist could study what happened to the crust during the earthquake to find what caused the earthquake.

It helps us so much to know what is beneath our feet! We can understand so much about what we are on by knowing what is beneath us, such as, say, why there are volcanoes. There are volcanoes because of pressure built up in a magma chamber that that desperately needs to let out the pressure, so it bursts. We can also understand continental drift. This is because there is the crust, but there are plates that are always moving that make up the crust. We can also understand how old the earth is by calculating its large size and how long it would take to cool and only have a 6-60 mile thick crust. Andit is just cool to know what the earth is made up of!
ReplyDelete~Dylan
It helps us know the things in the surface because there are waves and thing well Those waves could tell us if there is going to be an earthquake, and that tells people to be careful because there is going to be an earthquake there. Another thing is that it helps us by telling us what kind of things are under the surface and those are the two reasons why it helps us understand the earths surface.
ReplyDeleteKevin Guterrez
To our knowledge, we will never be able to live inside the Earth's crust.Just below the crust is the mantle, this layer is the most thick and is mostly made up of solid rocks and extremely hot plastic like rocks. This environment is clearly unsuitable for any life whatsoever. But even though we can't travel inside the Earth it is important that we understand what is happening below our feet.We need to learn about the interior of our planet because eventually all the liquid iron and molten rocks will cool good permanently. This is likely to happen billions of years in the future, but when it does happen it will drastically change the inside of the Earth and probably the crust as well.
ReplyDeleteKnowing the structure of the inside of the earth help us understand how rocks can be formed. Also gives us clues how rocks are formed. Like metamorphic rocks, sedimentary rocks, and igneous rocks. Also in the center of the earth there is really hot lava and with that lava it forms magma and it turns into rocks. This gives us clues to humans what happens on the earths crust. Another example could be volcanos because we can study about the and thats another way the rocks are formed. The lava in at the center of the Earth can be hot but, a volcano can form an igneous rock and soon it will form into megma. These rocks can help us know how the earths surface looks like. Knowing the inside of the earth can be really helpful we can learn a lot and know what happens in the surface of the earth.
ReplyDeleteknowing whats inside earth helps us see and learn how earth changes over time. We can also see how the earths crust causes earthquakes and we can see when are earthquakes are going to occur. If we can go deeper into earth we can learn more about earth on how it made its self and how its helping its self. We can learn something about earth that we never knew about but that would time a long time.
ReplyDeleteI think that knowing what is inside the earth can help us in many ways. But for this blog, I will be talking about how it can help us understand what goes on in the surface. The thinnest, and outermost layer of the earth is the crust, which is what we live on. The crust is made of loose rocks, and is mostly affected by earthquakes. Then, from knowing that part of the mantle is molten, and the outer core is completely molten. This means that all magmatic activity comes from deep down in the asthenosphere, where volcanos get their lava. This is how knowing about the interior of the earth is important.

Knowing the structure of the inside of the earth can help us understand many things happening on the surface. It can help understand when earthquakes are going to happen. Using seismographs scientists can tell what materials are inside the earth by testing the density and can track earthquakes. Understanding the inside of the earth can help us better understand volcanoes. Finally knowing about the inside of the earth can help us present natural disasters and save lives.
ReplyDeleteI believe that knowing what the structure of the inside of the earth looks like is important because it helps us get a good idea of what is happening on the outside of the earth. I think this because the more we know, the more prepared we can be for natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and other natural disasters. For example, we can measure the seismic waves to see how dense the earth is. We also use these waves to determine when an earthquake is going to happen, as well as how severe it is going to be. We also can see how a volcanic eruption will affect the areas around it by measuring and testing the rock in the area. Scientists can test the, well, ground and see how tectonic plates are moving. That is why I think that seeing inside the earth can help us figure out what is happening up here.

Knowing the structure of the Earth helps us understand why many things occur on the surface. First off, there is igneous rock on the crust. The mantle, below the crust, is of magma and the crust made of igneous rock. Knowing the contents of the mantle allows us to determine why and what the crust is made of. Also, knowing the structure of the Earth helps us locate active volcanoes. That is important because Knowing this helps prevent many losses of lives.

They figure out that plates on the earth cause the land to shift. They help us figure out how mountains, volcanoes, and valleys form. It helps us understand patterns for example, when volcanoes erupt and when earthquakes happen.
ReplyDeleteI think its important because scientist are studding the inside of earth because the layers moving inside the earth cause earthquakes, volcano's,tsunami, and other natural disasters. so it is important for us to know how the earths moving on the inside so we can warn people how are in danger.
ReplyDeleteIt's important to understand the inside of the Earth. It has a lot to do with our Earth activities. For example: part of earth starts volcanic eruptions, or earthquakes. It can also explain why the places on Earth start moving and then we have to change our school maps. It explains things like the temperature since it's so hot inside of earth, that's why it has gotten warmer over the years. a few years ago in Oklahoma, it was 110 degrees for a couple of days straight. And that was a record. The last thing I can think of is the fact of why people think digging into the ground is bad. If someone was to dog deep enough, then you could hurt the crust. Overall, knowing about the inside of the Earth is very important. -Elizabeth J
ReplyDeleteThe structure of the inside of earth help us understand things that are happening on the earth's surface.Because it shows us newer rocks ,gems etc ..The life on earth shows us how the earth is alive and changing in many ways. The layers of earth also help us live and walk .And not die from dangerous gases and dangerous stuff in space. ~Kara Trujillo
ReplyDeleteYes knowing the structure is really important because then we can find out what type or structures of rock is under us. this is important because what if a rock gets too hot and rises up to the crust and kills us or animals. another reason why I think this is important is scientists are studding this because of the layers moving inside the earth causing earthquakes, volcano's,tsunami, and other natural disasters.
ReplyDeleteKnowing the inside of the earth helps us on the outside because, first we can find out how the earth is and why it can be so hot and cold on the outside. Also it helps us to see the magnetic field in the atmosphere and how it affects gravity and compass and anything to do with magnets. It also helps us see we can also see the continenents shift and why they shift. One more reason knowing the earths inside is earthquakes happen so we can see why and when they could happen later . That is why knowing the earth inside and out is good for science and knowing the stuff that we lie on and what is under us.
ReplyDeleteHow knowing the structure of the inside of Earth helps us is it can tell us why and how our world is changing. Knowing what each layer of Earth can do call tell us when the plates are moving or shifting. We could be able to tell when an earth quake is happening.
ReplyDeleteKnowing the structure of the inside of the earth is important for several reasons. We can track seismic activity easier and seeing what happens to the earth and why it happens. Almost all earthquakes occur on the crust, which helps geologists and seismologists predict earthquakes and find out more information on them. In the future if any effort to go down deeper into the earth than people have already been is scheduled, whoever is doing it will know what to expect. The crust can also predict how earthquakes are going to affect our earth in the future to when the next "big one" will hit California and other major earthquakes like that. Scientists will make easier predictions on what will happen to our continents in the future, they could collide and something could happen to our world when they do. Our earth's inside structure is important to know to scientists because it allows us to make predictions for our planet of the future.

Knowing the structure of the inside of the earth helps us understand the mysteries of the plant we call home.

Knowing the structure of the inside of the earth is important for many reasons. First off the core of the earth, is what leads to everything thats on the outside. It affects the temperature, climae and terrain of the crust we live on. The core also gives us information about earthquakes, volcano erruptions, and gysers. Not only does the center of the earth provide informationof the future, it gives us information of things that have happened in the past. For insatnce earthquakes that occured 100s of years ago, can be tracked from the core of the earth. The core of the earth is very important and gives us extrely helpful information!

Since scientists have recently been able to get an idea of what is happening inside of the earth, this may help in many ways! First of all, this may show why our surface is heating or cooling. For example, if they have found lava rising or erupting under ground, this may explain why our surface is heating. But, if scientists have found that water is rising or there is no lava flow to be found, this may explain why the surface is cooling. Second of all, by figuring out what is under the earths surface, this may help scientists find where tectonic plates are meeting and explain when earthquakes are coming, or better yet if mountains are about to be formed! By finally understanding movement, and what is under earths surface, we may be more prepared for things and have an understanding of why they are happening in the first place! -Ashlin C
ReplyDeleteThe inner layers of the Earth affect what happens on the Earth’s surface. All the rocks on the Earth’s surface are formed by things that happen in different layers inside of the Earth. The outermost layer called the crust is where earthquakes take place. This seismic activity takes place under the Earth’s surface. By knowing about earthquakes scientists can better predict when the next one will occur. These earthquakes affect the Earth’s surface when earthquakes happen. These earthquakes do great damage to man made and as well as natural formations such as mountains. By detecting earthquakes, scientist can save lives and the damages they cause.

Earths interior is important to know because it affects the habitat on the exterior. It changed from having 1 continent to multiple continents. This affected the animals on earth by taking away a supply of fish. It also affected how animals travel. This all falls back on the moving of the continents and how the earth shapes out. The earth is amazing and more knowledge equals more power for us to thrive as a species.

ReplyDeleteKnowing the Earth's structure is helpful by letting us understand where volcanoes, deep ocean trenches, earthquakes, etc come from and how they work. The Earths structure can tell us whats happening underneath the crust (the mantle, outer core, inner core, etc.) and why its happening. Its also good to know what the inside of the earth looks like for a new generation to get a look at how big the earth is and the history of what planet they're living on. Also, you need to know the interior to know the exterior of the Earth. You can just guess that Earthquakes come from a giant running, or because god is mad. You have to have scientific evidence to prove your theory, like Alfred Wegeners theory. (sorry if i spelled his name wrong!)

Knowing the center of the earth is important for many reasons. It can tell us why the atmosphere and where we live is changing. First, our surface is cooling and heating all the time so we can find out how that happens and why by whats under the earth. Second we can see how the earths magnetic field works and how to see North, East, South, and West and use compasses to get around with magnets.Third we can see volcanoes and experience how cool they are. Another reason is so we can see when and where these rocks came from and the different types such as integumentary, sedimentary, and igneous rocks. One final reason is so the earth can have weight to it if it was a big hollow ball it would affect our gravity and we would probably move around space like crazy so we need to be heavy weighted. That is the reasons why it is important to know whats inside the earth we stand on.

Knowing the structure of the inside of the Earth help us to understand things happening on the surface by, because it can tell us why the weather change and so much more. It can tell us what happened in the dinosaur age and any past tense that has left any fossils or evidence when it died. The crust can hold teeth, and any fossil like related evidence. Also the inner and outer core tells us where our solid and liquid iron is/ comes from. The crust can tell us about the rock cycle too. The last thing the earths layers can tell us is where, the volcano came from, how mountains are formed, the history behind our earth, how the land and ocean was back then, and so much more related things.
